This morning, someone sent me a picture on WhatsApp. After a quick search (thanks to the digital capability), I found out that this beautiful illustration is by Turcios, and the caption reads “๐๐ณ๐ถ๐ป๐ฎ๐ป๐ฑ๐ผ,” which means “๐๐๐ป๐ถ๐ป๐ด.” That word really struck a chord with me.
Have you ever noticed your mind racing one way while your heart pulls you somewhere else?
It immediately reminded me of a phrase I often use and relate to: โ๐๐ถ๐น-๐ผ-๐๐ถ๐บ๐ฎ๐ดโ (Heart and Mind).
We are often told to depend on the ๐ฅ๐ช๐ฎ๐ข๐จ – reason primarily: logic, data, strategy, and figuring out whatโs right or wrong. It is like treating our minds like “high-performance machines”. But if we ignore the ๐ฅ๐ช๐ญ, we can burn out, lose our passion, or feel disconnected from our work. Life is more than just transactions. Itโs about building relationships, generating influence (aren’t we all CIOs – ๐๐ต๐ถ๐ฒ๐ณ ๐๐ป๐ณ๐น๐๐ฒ๐ป๐ฐ๐ฒ ๐ข๐ณ๐ณ๐ถ๐ฐ๐ฒ๐ฟ๐- everywhere), making an impact, being present with others, and simply showing up.
Real happiness and peace of mind donโt come from picking one over the other. They come from tuning them together.
The ๐๐ช๐ฎ๐ข๐จ (Mind/Thought) gives us structure, a plan, and focus. The ๐๐ช๐ญ (Heart/Feeling) gives us connection – empathy and purpose.
Like tuning a musical instrument, we need to pause. Each day. And tune ourselves. When our thoughts and feelings line up, the music in our lives sounds much sweeter.
How do you keep your heart and mind in harmony during a busy work week?
